“We are bitcoin miners, and this collection is dedicated to all different types of miners and types of energy. It’s meant to demystify our industry and help people better understand the world of Bitcoin mining through art and community.”

Are Ordinals a good thing for the Bitcoin miners and the Bitcoin network ? If so, please explain how?
Inscriptions are definitely a positive for Bitcoin miners. Average transaction fees have risen a few percentage points since inscriptions came onto the scene, and they also offer interesting opportunities for BTC-native MEV.

For the network as a whole, if inscriptions remain popular for years to come, then they will be crucial for Bitcoin’s security budget as the block subsidy runs out.

Your awesome project Ordinal Miners uses art and community to demystify the industry of Bitcoin mining. Why do you think some people perceive Bitcoin mining as a mystery? Is it really mysterious or misunderstood?
It’s mystifying to people because there’s really nothing like it. You also have to get people to understand why proof-of-work is necessary for solving the double spending problem and mitigating trust in a decentralized system, and most people don’t really see the benefits of this if they come from a well-oiled financial system – or worse, you explain how proof-of-work operates and they see it as completely gratuitous.
I would say overall that the industry is just misunderstood (for example, people still think miners are “solving complex math problems” instead of just guessing a single, expendable number over and over again, trillions of times a day).

The Ordinal Miner genesis mint characters are super interesting. Are they based on real people in the industry and was ai involved?
There’s some inspiration from miners we’ve met in the wild for sure, but they are not directly based on any people. AI tools were used in the creative process.

How is the reception of Ordinal Miners within the Bitcoin mining community?
The reception overall has been positive, especially for amateur/professional miners. Bitcoiners as a group have been pretty divided on inscriptions though, with some more puritanically minded Bitcoiners strongly rejecting the trend.
