Exclusive Interview with Unstoppable Podcast Host Josh Gordon @justwavyj @Unstoppableweb #Web3ArtBlog #Podcast #UDFAM

By Web3ArtBlog.NFT

Josh Gordon aka 0xJosh.NFT is the Flash Gordon of The Unstoppable Podcast and The Master of educational Web3 Twitter threads.

In my opinion, he is an extremely talented and adept podcast host and Web3 teacher.

His goal is to help educate people about Web3 & NFTs through Twitter threads and The Unstoppable podcast.

He has experienced personal bull runs and bear markets in the Web3 and Crypto space. Recently he tweeted about loosing $100000.00 in the bear market, forcing him to liquidate his beloved MAYC.

Despite the setbacks, he is still super bullish on Web3 and NFT Domains.

Ladies and gentlemen I am truly honored to present to you Josh Gordon.

Question: You took The Unstoppable Podcast mantle from Matt.Crypto, the founding CEO of Unstoppable Domains. Matt.Crypto did hundreds of amazing episodes. When you took the mantle, you came with a bang and you have definitely put your mark on The Unstoppable podcast, with your amazing hosting skills. For the uninitiated can you explain exactly what goes into making a good episode. How do you decide on guests? What questions to ask? When to listen? When to interrupt etc?

I really appreciate the compliments here. Hosting the unstoppable podcast has been a real joy of mine over the last eight months. To make a good episode I look for guests that fall into one of three categories: creators, entrepreneurs, or investors. I also look to see if the work that they’re doing touches on some narrative I like to weave into The Unstoppable Podcast such as crypto UX, data ownership, and digital identity. When it comes to knowing when to jump in or when to let the guest keep talking, it’s something that comes with experience the more I host. But as I gain that experience, I’ve definitely become more comfortable with interjecting with my own thoughts. It’s really just a gut feeling – as a host I’m also a listener so I know when someone may be talking for a bit too long and we need to break it up with commentary or another question.

Question: Unstoppable Podcast is like a free web3 classroom and I learn so much from it. What 3 amazing things can you say where your most profound lessons?

The Crypto Renaissance episode was fascinating for me. Learning about how history has gone in the past regarding the artistic and information renaissance that happened in the medieval times and comparing that to modern times really opened my eyes to the significance of the impact we will see with NFTs.

Digital identity is a topic that we are just beginning to understand better. The innovation to come around how people will own their identity and bring it with them all over the internet will be amazing to see and could be the most important problem to solve for in all of web3.

Everyone has their crypto “ah ha” moment. It’s not always the same application or vertical of crypto (some it’s NFTs, some it’s DeFi, some it’s a dApp), but hearing how crypto clicked for people makes me bullish on continuing to provide educational resources for the crypt curious.

Question: There is a cool and colorful skateboard hanging on the wall in your YT podcast background. Are you a seasoned skater or is it a work of installation art?

The skate deck hanging behind me for my podcast set up is actually a piece of merch I was able to get as a member of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. This skate deck was a limited edition run and only made for holders of Mutant Apes. I no longer have my MAYC, but I still represent this on my wall and I think it’s a cool piece of art that makes me remember one of my first NFTs, which was a big reason why I got into crypto full time.

Question: You tweeted recently following a hack on Solana network that there is simply nowhere safe for your digital assets except for a hardware wallet. My first wallet when I entered the space was hacked and drained and there was no one to help me recover the stolen crypto. I learned the hard way about security. How do you see security risks of digital assets affecting mainstream adoption. Do you think hardware wallets should become a standard procedure and should wallets give new adopters a hardware wallet when they sign up?

I think that security currently poses a major risk to mainstream adoption. Over and over again we see headlines in the news about people getting hacked, scammed, and phished and ultimately that bad press is going to slow us down. It’s a shame that it takes errors that affect the user for progress in the security realm to be made. There is a web2 saying that goes something like “fail fast” but in web3 we need to instead build products slower and more intentionally so that these kinds of security issues don’t persist.

I definitely think that all crypto users should have a hardware wallet and that certain assets belong to them, but it doesn’t feel like the user-friendly solution to have all assets stored on a hardware wallet. In the future we will see more custodial services with service-level agreements that guarantee safe storage of crypto assets up to 99.99999% similar to how we see AWS and another cloud providers offering data storage guarantees. Until then it’s a good idea to have a mixture of hot and cold wallets.

Question: You mentioned in an Unstoppable Twitter Space that that you have a background in music. Can you talk more about that and are you still making music?

Yeah I have a long history in music from a couple different standpoints. My dream was always to be a rapper, but that’s really not my skill set so instead I found a way to be involved in the music industry over the years as a videographer, artist manager, and DJ. I made a lot of music videos for artists in the DC / Virginia area and have even flown out to LA to shoot a music video. One of my best friends raps and for all four of his concerts I’ve DJ’d and been the hype man for those shows which has been some of the best experiences of my life.

Question: Still on music, how do you see WEB3, NFTS and the Blockchain impacting music in the coming years?

I think music NFTs will be less about profit from flipping and more about collecting and connecting with artists you support and connect with. Music NFTs feel like such a natural implementation of this web3 technology. Music has constantly innovated over the years in terms of tech adoption and business model innovation. It will take some time as artists who have solid foundations may be hesitant to change what is working for them. But soon, we’ll have a naitve web3 artist break through and others will follow – just like how they have with TikTok.

Question: In one of your podcast episodes you had a guy who gave the analogy of blockchains as cities and that the future will be multi chain. Can you explain what this means for the uninitiated.

A lot of people (mainly ETH supporters) think that the future will all be built on Ethereum. But some people think the world will be multi-chain. And the different chains will have different use cases. Just as NYC is the cultural hub of the US, Chicago is for finance, LA is for media and entertainment, DC is for politics – blockchains will have different specialties too. We’re really just beginning to figure out what those are and how they work together.

Question: Lets talk about Unstoppable Domains. I’m obviously super bullish on their utility and adoption. It’s a revolutionary digital asset giving users the chance to own and control their data and to have a consistent login across chain and reputation. Can you talk about your unique perspective on the role NFT domains will play in a multichain web3 native future?

I think NFT domains are going to be far more important than most people realize. It is about SO much more than just making it easier to send and receive crypto. NFT domains allow you to bring your full self to the internet. Right now, some people are used to connecting their wallets to dApps, but that connection does not allow for data exchange between either party. Using NFT domains on crypto and web applications allows you to carry your portable identity around that has your on and off-chain data associated with it that you then get permission to requestors. This will fundamentally change how the internet is experienced. I wrote this thread that dives deeper into the subject that is a great read for those interested!

Question: Do you see major browsers like Google Chrome resolving NFT Domain websites anytime soon?

Soon – hmm.. that’s a hard one to answer because there are so many hoops to jump through to make it happen. It involves business relationships, roadmap planning, technical integrations and a lot more. Luckily we have a super strong business development team who’s sole goal is to increase the amount of partnerships and integrations that we have for our domains. I know Google would be an amazing integration for them and that relationship will be cultivated over time. I’m definitely rooting for that integration though!

Josh Gordon’s legendary Moonbird #8623

10) Besides making informative Unstoppable podcasts and investing in digital assets like your Moonbird, what do you do to relax IRL?

Outside of podcasting and NFTs, I love everything outdoors. I camp and surf during the summer, snowboard in the winter, run and bike in the fall, and enjoy mountaineering in the spring. Basically every weekend you can find me packing up my campervan that I’ve been building out (#vanlife) and hitting the road to go on an adventure. Luckily I’ve got a great group of friends to enjoy those activities with. Then it’s back to crypto during the week!
