This one is definitely for the history books, so pay attention to this Web3 wizard.
He is the undisputed NFTdomains OG as the streets would say. So when the OG speaks, its worth paying attention.
Matt.Crypto posts a lot of informative tweets on his feed, but one particular tweet stood out the most for me.
A picture of two regular dudes sitting adjacent to a desktop computer inside a living room. The caption on the tweet read, “4 years ago working on Unstoppable in the living room”
If a picture or an NFT speaks a thousand words, this one was speaking volumes.
Bill Gates started Microsoft inside the garage of his parents home and today Microsoft is one of the Web2 giants.
Matt.Crypto may very well be building a Web3 giant with Unstoppabledomains.
I’m even amazed and truly honored that he agreed to do an exclusive interview with Web3ArtBlog.NFT.

Question: Dude. Matthew. How did you go from the living room to building the words number 1 provider of NFT domains?
Answer: As I learned in SF it’s good to be early! I was fortunate enough to find out about Bitcoin, crypto, and blockchain very early while living in SF (San Francisco). And when more and more people started using crypto it became obvious to me that we’d need an easier way for people to send crypto to each other. We had the right product at the right time.

Question: For the uninitiated, please explain in layman’s terms what an NFT domain is, it’s benefits, privileges, present and future use?
Answer:Sure, NFT domains are like normal domains except for cryptocurrency. Just like you use a standard .com domain to lookup a website instead of it’s IP address, you can use an NFT domain like Drumkoon.nft to lookup someones crypto address. The interesting thing about NFT domains is that because they are on a public blockchain you can add any additional data to the domain that you like. Including things like your social profiles, your KYC info, crypto addresses, or even a website. NFT domains are for individuals, we believe that everyone who uses crypto will use an NFT domain, and we believe everyone is going to use crypto. To summarize, NFT domains are potentially even more useful than standard .com domains and they will be used by more people than traditional domains.

By using your NFT domain as your digital identity you can have a portable reputation across the internet and you own it and control what data you want to connect to it. We think this will help address two big problems on the internet: bots and privacy. Because if people have a digital identity that you can connect to a bunch of apps it’s a lot harder for bots to fake being a real person. And if you control what info is tied back to your domain and who can see it, you have much more agency and privacy around your personal data.

Question: SBTs are beign touted by Vitalik Buterin as the next big thing after NFTs. Would you please explain what SBTs are and why they should rather be tied to NFT domains instead of wallets?
SBTs are interesting, but they have some flaws around being able to revoke or re-issue credentials that aren’t perfect for identity use cases. I think they can be interesting for some specific use cases, but not so much for a portable identity. I think we need to give SBTs more time to develop before making any definitive decisions, but for right now I think it makes much more sense to tie your information back to an NFT domain that you have full control over than relying on address specific tokens that you could accidentally lose forever.

Question: How did you come to the world of Web3 and NFT domains? Were you the childhood geek? What is your background?
I’ve always been interested in technology and have worked at and started several companies in my life. Before starting Unstoppable Domains I worked at Talkable, which was a company that went through YC, and learned a lot about startups through that network. I got interested in Bitcoin as a hobby, running a node in my house, experimenting with international payments, and creating a few bitcoin apps with friends. And that hobby evolved to where I am today. Specifically I was very interested in non-financial applications for blockchain technology, even all the way back in 2013, and saw reputation as a very interesting thing to build on blockchain systems. This is what eventually led me to NFT domains as a great place to lay a foundation for digital reputation and identity.

Question: What was the first NFT Domain that was minted and why?
I’ll have to ask Ryan Le on our team what the very first NFT domain was. Ryan actually created the contract for the very first NFT domains during a hackathon at ENS London in 2018 and won the 1st place award along with a few other people on his team for creating NFT domains. It was fun.

Questions: Have you experienced failure in your journey and what is your attitude when things don’t go according to plan?
Repeatedly. Failure is part of success. The best thing you can do is get back up and get back to the next thing you need to do. Recovery and resilience really are part of a winning mindset for all founders. And building up that capability gives you a huge advantage when building a company.

Question: Sandy.nft on behalf of Unstoppabledomains gifted a million domains to the women of Abu Dhabi. Not even the dotcoms ever gave such a huge gift. How do you balance business and philanthropy? Will you be gifting African women too?
Accessibility is a HUGE component of what we want to do at Unstoppable Domains. Right now web3 tech is not accessible to most people. We need to improve the UX, reduce the cost, bring down the complexity, and build the enabling technologies to really drive adoption for web3 globally. As part of the web3 movement we want to do our part to bring more consumers and apps to the web3 space and show them how using this technology can improve their lives. So access is really important to us. And whenever we can find great partners to work with, in Abu Dhabi, Africa, Asia, US, EU, latin America, wherever anywhere in the world we are interested in increasing access.

Question: Right now we are in the middle of a crypto winter, rising inflation abd fears of a global economic recession. How do you continue to build Unstoppabledomains in such an environment?
Keep our heads down and focus on providing value to users and apps. That’s the one way we can guarantee we’ll have a great business is to make sure we’re building for customers.

Question: How do you see Web3 and NFT domains 10 years from now considering tech tends to grow exponentially?
I hope to see a future where you own your digital identity and digital items online and all the major applications have web3 connection so you can have more privacy and control over their experiences.

Question:The Metaverse has been touted as the next big thing in Web3. How do you see that concept evolving and what role will Nft domains play in the future of the Metaverse or rather Metaverse?
We think that NFT domains will act as your identifier in the metaverse.
