I have to admit, its not everyday that you meet a Marine Corps vet who is a domestic abuse survivor, a mom, an NFT project founder and helping to uplift women affected by domestic violence. Plus, she is so cool and loves positive vibes.

Ladies and gentleman I am talking about Justamom603_NFT, the founder of Defiant Dames NFT, a project created for the women warriors of the world and uplifting women affected by domestic violence.

In a recent Twitter post she tweeted,
“If you haven’t met me already, my name is Tara, and I’m a founder of @DefiantDamesNFT I’m not a fancy girl from LA with a designer lifestyle. I’m a simple chick from the country who loves #Web3. The #NFTCommunity is beautifully diverse, and not one of us is better than another.”
She agreed to do an exclusive interview and if you are reading this, you should consider following her on Twitter and supporting Defiant Dames NFTs. FYI 60% of the earnings are going to charity to support victims of domestic abuse and 40% is reinvested into Defiant Dames NFT. More information is available in her Discord.

Question: Explain the core values behind your nft collection Defiant Dames, ie “admiration, empathy, and respect”
Answer: It’s important to us that people understand what a woman goes through trying to escape domestic abuse. Many people don’t understand and respect why they don’t “just leave”. It’s not that simple, I know firsthand. You’re truly scared for your life. When looking at these situations, you need to be empathetic because, unless you’ve lived it, you could never understand. When a woman finds the ability to leave, I can’t help but admire her strength. It’s terrifying to leave because of the unknown.

Question: As a Marine Corps Vet you are definitely a woman warrior. Web3 needs more women warriors to play a role and shape the dynamics so that it’s not just a privileged man’s world. What are you doing to help women in Web3 and to onboard more women into the Web3 space?
Answer: Being in the Marine Corps, I was definitely in man’s world as well. It can be hard to be heard as a woman. I have definitely seen that women in the NFT Community have been embraced by the men, which is beautiful. I talk about all the amazing things the NFT world has to offer on my other social media platforms. I try to reach out to people who have never even looked into NFTs to talk about my experiences. Defiant Dames also knows how important it is to bring new people into the community. We have a channel in our Discord devoted to educating “NFT newbies”. We understand how intimidating it can be at first, so breaking it down to help people understand is very important to us.

Question: Which life lessons and experiences as a Marine are you drawing from to navigate Web3?
Answer: The three core values of the Marine Corps is honor, courage, and commitment. Those are values I try to utilize in my every day life, including Web3. When it comes to the Defiant Dames project, I knew I needed to be honest and share my personal experiences with domestic abuse in order to be fully committed to this project. The Marine Corps also instills a certain amount of discipline and when you’re committed to the NFT Community and Web3, you need to have discipline if you want to be successful.

Question: You tweeted that, “Nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. @DCoopOfficial @TommyThraxxx, and I want to help those affected by domestic violence.@DefiantDamesNFT is a #NFTProject that WILL make a difference.” Can you explain how your project will make a contribution to this awful problem?
Answer: Defiant Dames will support women affected by domestic abuse by distributing 60% of the royalties from the Genesis collection to charities that directly help these women. Whether it’s to give them a safe place to live in order to escape, or to help support women who are struggling to survive on their own after they already left. We will help provide the proper resources to women who don’t know where to turn. The founders will be taking 0% of the royalties from the Genesis collection because the charity aspect is the most important to us, while the remaining 40% will be reinvested in the project.

Question: Talking about abuse. If you saw the recent Oscar’s, comedian Chris Rock made a joke about G. I Jane and got a real smacking and a verbal tirade. Do you think physical and emotional abuse have gone out of hand in America? Kendrick Lamar even rapped about a culture where hurt people hurt more people. What’s your take on that?
Answer: I don’t think violence is ever acceptable UNLESS you need to physically defend yourself. In the situation with Will Smith, I thought that was totally out of line. For as long as I can remember, those award shows always start with a comedian roasting the celebrities, and more often than not, the comedians are just reading what their writers wrote. So I believe Will Smith totally overreacted. I know some people believe he was “defending his woman”, but the “punishment doesn’t fit the crime”. You can’t hit someone over words. What kind of example does that set? I know he has been publicly hurt and humiliated by Jada somewhat recently so I think he was acting out of hurt he has felt from her, but because of his actions he is slowly started to experience the wrath of cancel culture.

Question: Can you pick any 3 people in Web3 who inspire you and tell us why they inspire you? Web3ArtBlog.NFT is going to airdrop each of them a 1 of 1 Butterfly NFT with full IP and copyrights from the collection Nature POV, to thank them for inspiring you because you are an amazing woman and keep supporting others through your amazing NFT project Defiant Dames. You absolutely rock girl!
Answer: My husband was actually the person who taught me about Web3 and he has helped me so much in my journey navigating through Web3 and the NFT Community. He actually told me about Defiant Dames months ago when they were looking for moderators because he knew how important it would be to me to be involved somehow. After applying to be a mod, Tommy and David reached out to me to having a meeting, long story short, I’m a very happy and blessed founder of this incredible project. David and Tommy continue to impress me every day with their knowledge and passion. They continue to teach me about Web3, and always listen to what I have to say. I’m grateful for all three of them because I wouldn’t be where I am in Web3 without them.
